+1 Google Chrome Extension Leaked on National TV

Yesterday I mentioned that Google released a campaign with a series of TV advertisements that promoted their web browser, Chrome. Well I have just finished watching one of them and I have to say it is brilliant. Like, as brilliant as some of those touching McDonalds commercials (sorry for promoting, I am a huge fan of McDonalds commercials. I’d go sit in front of the TV for them).

The one I watched was Dear Sophie. It’s about a Dad sending emails to his daughter – emails about how she is growing up. I almost shed a tear. But I didn’t watch it out of my own curiosity… I watched it because people are saying that through the video, Google leaked themselves on national television about their +1 Chrome extension.

And true enough, if you reach 51 seconds into the video you will see the +1 button just beside the Picasa button that is being clicked on.
So what is this +1 button? Rumors said that it is comparable to the “Like” button on Facebook. A month ago, it was officially launched as a way to share Google Search results that you like with your friends and the web in general. For further info on the +1 extension, click here.

For now just sit back, relax, and get all giggly when you see the +1 icon on the video below:

Google “+1 button” – Chrome Extension

The +1 button is shorthand for “this is pretty cool” or “you should check this out.”

Click +1 to publicly give something your stamp of approval. Your +1’s can help friends, contacts, and others on the web find the best stuff when they search.
