iPad 3 to go on sale in March with LTE support
There’s finally news of the long awaited iPad 3!
Expected to go on sale in March, it is said to possess a high-definition screen, run on a faster processor and also work with next-generation wireless networks, according to Bloomberg.
Manufacturing of the iPad 3 started to go full steam this January and is planned to reach full volumes next month. The tablet will also feature a quad-core chip that lets users switch more quickly between applications.
Apple’s relying on this new model to fight off the increasing competition in the dense tablet market which Apple pioneered with the invention of the iPad two years back. The iPad has become the company’s second biggest source of revenue, second only to the iPhone. Countless rival products have tried to take on the iPad, for example the Amazon Kindle, Samsung Galaxy Tab and so on but so far none have enjoyed quite the resounding success as Apple had with the iPad.
Sources have also reported that a California-based company has been working on making the iPad compatible with a wireless standard called long- term evolution, or LTE which give users faster access to data. Carriers such as Verizon Wireless (VZ) and ATT Inc. (T) have started to introduce LTE networks.
Smartphone makers, including Samsung, Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. (MMI) and Nokia Oyj (NOKIA), have already brought the faster LTE networks to their smartphones but Apple is bringing LTE to the iPad before the iPhone because the tablet has a bigger battery and can better support the power requirements of the newer technology.
New hardware as mentioned above on the iPad3 is said to make it capable of a greater resolution than current iPad screens, with even more pixels on the screen than some HD televisions.Videos are also able to play almost instantly due to a better graphics processor.
So.. who’s excited for the iPad 3? and the number 1 question on our minds right now, when will the iPad 3 hit Singapore’s shores?
