Facebook Allows Longer Description For Page Tab

Facebook now extended length limit of description for page tab from 16 characters to 100 characters.

Although longer description will cause lesser tabs to be displayed above the fold, I still prefer current change as 16 characters are always not enough to describe the tab accurately. For example, I can only display description as ” Enter the contest” instead of  a more interesting and descriptive one like ” Enter to win a 2-Weeks Vacation in Seoul!”.

Now I can also be more creative with the description. To make it sounds urgent, I can tell the expiry date in the description such as “Only 2 More Hours To Enter The Contest. Hurry up!”

In addition, Facebook increased the number of tabs visible above the fold and allowed reordering of apps.

For page admins who wants to edit Page tab app names, you can click on Edit Page button, go into the Apps tab, and after that click “Edit Settings” on the tab that you want to rename. To reorder tabs, click “Edit” link below the tab app navigation menu in your page.
