Facebook mobile update gives photos three times more space

This update is especially for its mobile users! The amount of white space has been reduced so now more images can be loaded on the screen. The layout has been renewed so it is not that your screen become bigger, but the images have become larger.

Referring to Facebook:

‘’Starting today, we’re rolling out an improved design for posts in news feed on your mobile phone. Now photos are up to 3x larger, and all posts will fill your mobile screen from edge to edge. The new design will be available on iOS, Android and m.facebook.com. ‘’

As you can see on the right image, larger images can be viewed, which it is not necessary for some users to view the image in large size though.

Earlier, Google+ upgrades its iPhone app with a new look, the ‘’full bleed’’ effect. Now the update of Facebook is quite similar to that. However, the update of Facebook seems to look like more of Facebook’s latest acquisition, Instagram.

Facebook has a lot of traffic due to image browsing. So they are trying to make the photo sharing tool more convenient for its users.  As you can see, the amount of white space has been reduced in order to give users a glimpse without the need to view full-screen. For me, the new layout does give a clearer preview of images and photo albums though. It will take a bit more time to load as the image is larger. But still, it doesn’t take that long time!

Just check Facebook for the changes on iOS, Android or m.facebook.com. You will definitely notice that there is less white space around your Newsfeed. What is your opinion about this update? Let us know whether this is more convenient than before.
