Facebook unifying vanity URLs and e-mail addresses
Facebook has announced to combine the unique vanity URLs and Facebook addresses of its users. What does that mean for you? This means that your Facebook e-mail address and the URL that people use to go to your Facebook Page would be the same.
In 2009, Facebook already rolled out the custom usernames and URL like facebook.com/jane.smith.19. This was in order to make it easier for people to find friends.
Now Facebook users will get a notification to let them choose an address so they can change the way how people can reach them on Facebook. These changes will be rolling out over the next few weeks and somehow Facebook is trying to encourage users to use the messaging and email system.
Actually, e-mail is still a common way for people to communicate to each other on the Internet, so do you think users will use Facebook e-mail address to communicate with each other? Nowadays, people are communicating with each other through Social Media or e-mail, so now Facebook is merging these two channels and would this be a new way for people to communicate?
According to Facebook: ‘’Updated addresses will be rolled out over the next few weeks. Note: Anyone who already selected an email address will not be affected.’’
