Get Ready for the iPhone 5
Update: The new iPhone – iPhone 4S has been announced! Check the details.
It seems as if it was only yesterday that the iPhone 4 was released… And yet on Monday, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo with Concord Securities issued a note that offers alleged details of the next iPhone. Apple will not plan to feature an all new design but rather only “slight modifications” from the iPhone 4, according to his checks with supply chain sources. These “slight modifications” include features such as a faster A5 processor (which is already found in the iPad 2), and a higher resolution 8 megapixel rear camera. Kuo was also told that Apple will switch to a Qualcomm baseband for both GSM and CDMA models along with an improved antenna design.
He was also told that trial productions start in August and final mass productions in September, which will allow Apple to reach shipment volumes between 28 million to 32 million units by fourth quarter of this year. This would align with reports saying that Apple planned to make iPhone 5 available later than usual this year, most likely in Apple’s next fiscal year which begins in October. This late release may be due from the fact that the earthquake and tsunami disaster have reportedly resulted to insufficient supplies for the company. They had planned on focusing components toward building the new iPhone 5 later this year.
Until then, we have the white version of the iPhone 4 to keep us more or less busy while waiting.
Update: Some sources have confirmed that iPhone 5 is coming out this october. So we expect it to be in Singapore by the end of this year.
