Google Drive might come this April

Google might offer a new online storage names as Google Drive (GDrive). This would be a new storage for Google users.

According to Om Malik, Google Drive might be launched this coming April. In the past, there were already rumours about Google Drive, but nothing came of those rumours. Therefore we should be prepared that it can be a rumour again. Hopefully not!

Referring to Gigaom:

‘’The rumors of Google’s Gdrive first emerged in 2006 and then in 2007 via The Wall Street Journal. Nothing came of those rumors. Two years later, same story, and one more time, nothing came to fruition. In 2010, Google announced that it would allow you to upload documents and files to Google Docs. In February 2012, the rumors started again with another report from The Wall Street Journal.’’

Google is already offering Google Docs where users can upload and share documents and files. Now, Google created Google Drive which will be a cloud service and would offer 1GB space for free and charge for additional space. But would that 1GB be enough for you?

In these days, $830 million was spend on file and back-up storage services in 2011, according to The Wall Street Journal. This is actually a great move of Google to offer Google Drive.

As we all know, Dropbox and Box are already offering free storage spaces. It seems that Google Drive is offering less space than the competitors because Dropbox is offering 2GB for free and Box is offering 5GB for free. However, Google Drive will be launched in beta mode, so it might be more than 1GB in the future?

Google has already a massive cloud infrastructure and still they are expanding their services. Lets wait!
