Groupon Acquires Obtiva

In order to prepare for IPO,  Groupon has acquired Obtiva, a Chicago-based Ruby on Rails software development firm.

Obtiva’s team members will be brought on board as in-house Groupon engineers. According to Groupon’s director of communications Julie Mossler, they have been working with Obtiva colleagues since way back in 2009, when Groupon had a handful of engineers. She also said that Obtiva has given supports over the past few years and owned key pieces of Groupon development work. Therefore they decided to tie the knot with Obtiva to improve their Chicago-based engineering talent.

The six-year-old company Obtiva posted on the Twitter and its website:  “While we aren’t accepting new business at the moment, we will continue to service existing clients,”
