iOS 5 Will Be Harder To Jailbreak

There are quite a number of advanced iPhone users revert their iOS to an earlier version so that they can access the old features. Such action is called jailbreak. Once jailbroken, iOS users are able to download additional applications, extensions, and themes that are unavailable through the official Apple App store.

However, Jailbreaking will be more difficult now as Apple is going to make its latest operating system, iOS5 more complex to be modified.

Usually users will backup their SHSH blobs before upgrading the software so that older version of the OS and firmware can be restored at a later time.

In iOS5, the way of creating the blobs is changed. Every time a device is rebooted, the blobs will be regenerated, which means that users won’t be able to install an older version of the software with just the key anymore. Besides, Apple will also push out small updates to patch exploits, preventing a users who has agreed to install said update from jailbreaking their device.

While Apple is now coming out with several measures to prevent jailbreaking, I believe that iPhone Dev Team will still continue to finding exploits and providing tools to do it.
