Music on Facebook Relaunches

I’ve got a lot of musician friends, most of them are members of a local band, in which their sole purpose is to share their music to as many people as possible and hopefully change their lives in one way or another through their lyrics… At least, I hope that’s what their goal is. Anyway. Most of these friends of mine own a MySpace profile where they showcase their recorded songs and publicly share their work. Now it’s good their trying to get themselves exposure, But I keep on asking them, “How in the world are you going to share your music in a website that hardly anyone goes to anymore?”

Granted though, MySpace is (or was) the primary social network wherein budding artists get to share their music. But the audience is very limited since most people have abandoned ship their MySpace accounts and moved on to Facebook. Which is why the social network took advantage of their position and launched “Music on Facebook” back in 2008. However it did not really create an explosion in the music scene during that time, but the Page has now relaunched.

Music on Facebook helps musicians get the most out of Facebook as well as introducing other Facebook users to a new kind of scene. If you go to the webpage, you will see that it has even liked a few artists such as Katy Perry and Jason Mraz. Pages for films and journalists are also available.

Facebook rep Meredith Chin says, “Music has always been a part of Facebook. Now musicians are tapping into that; they’re going where the people are. We want to get better and better at helping people in the music industry connect with each other and their fans in a meaningful way.”
