New Shazam Application

Shazam has always been one of my favourite music applications; the 2 year old application lets you track down songs that you randomly hear in the club, coffee shop, or even along the street. Today, Shazam releases its new version of application featuring the Sharam Friends tool which incorporated Facebook activity into the application, displaying songs in which your friends have been tagged in.

“You can Shazam a song — that’s one way of discover,” explain David Jones, EBVP of Marketing at Shazam. “But everyone has a friend whose taste they like, and this is a way to share with those people. We’re expecting the amount of music discovery to take off. To go from proactive searching to a browsing experience as well.”

Besides identifying songs in real time, users can now navigate through their friends songs via the live feed to see which songs they are listening to, you never know, you might discover the same liking. “Our users love to share songs with friends and family members,” explains Jones. They wanted that to be easier. To bring all those Shazam songs from friends into one place,” he adds.

For those with the old Shazam application, you can now update your application and the new “Friends,” tab will automatically pop up. Only friends who have updated their application will be able to interact with you. Are you a big Shazam fan? What do you think about this new tool?
