The Sims Are Going To Join Facebook

The Sims, one of the most successful video games series of all time published by Electronics Arts(EA), is going to get social on Facebook soon.

An extension called The Sims Social will be launched, according to the announcement EA Amade at E3 on Monday. However, EA did not reveal the launch date. A Facebook page for the game has already been set up but the game is still not available yet. The page only show that the game is coming soon.

Besides this Facebook application, EA also plan to release a mobile companion app to the game.

The Sims is actually a game that lets users create virtual people called “Sims” and places them in houses and helps direct their moods and satisfy their desires. Players can either place their Sims in pre-constructed homes or build them themselves. It has sold more than 140 million units worldwide since its introduction in 2000. Similar to Zynga social games like FarmVille, CityVille and Mafia Wars, Sims could also offer competition to attract more active users.

From this movement, we can see that EA is trying to explore into the social games environments.
