Time Warner Cable releases live TV streaming app for Android

After one year waiting, Time Warner Cable users can finally enjoy live TV streaming on their Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablets and phones.

The cable provider Time Warner Cable has updated its Android app 2.0. Time Warner Cable TV 2.0 is letting users watch live cable channels such as Bravo, the Food Network and CNBC. However, this live cable channels can only be watched through a home wireless network. So this app is not allowing users to watch live TV streaming while travelling. Is this a disappointment or not? Actually it is already an amazing update that Time Warner Cable users can watch live TV streaming on their Android tablet or phone though!

According to Jeff Simmermon, director of digital communication for Time Warner Cable:

‘’ This app won’t work on rooted devices – for the same reason it doesn’t work on jailbroken iOS devices. We promise our programming partners a secure, in-home experience when we offer this free product, and rooted/jailbroken devices subvert the security that we are obliged to offer our partners. ‘’

If the app still doesn’t work following the upgrade, then reinstall the app from Google Play. This free app Time Warner Cable is now available in Google Play store. Are you going to download this app? It is a common limitation that most cable providers only allow people to stream through a home wireless network, but still it is progressing so in the future it could be possible to stream live TV through 3G?!
