Twitter gets new logo and blue bird ‘Larry’ gets a haircut

Did you already notice the new Twitter logo? The social media giant Twitter has unveiled a new, simplified logo!

The new Twitterbird, named after basketball legend ”Larry Bird”  gets a haircut in logo makeover. This new logo will be the universally recognisable symbol of Twitter, said Doug Bowman the creative director.

According to Twitter:

‘’Our new bird grows out of love for ornithology, design within creative constraints, and simple geometry. This bird is crafted purely from three sets of overlapping circles — similar to how your networks, interests and ideas connect and intersect with peers and friends. Whether soaring high above the earth to take in a broad view, or flocking with other birds to achieve a common purpose, a bird in flight is the ultimate representation of freedom, hope and limitless possibility.’’

The simple graphic is crafted from three sets of overlapping circles. This is similar to how your networks, interests and ideas are connected with peers and friends. Now, the new bird is in take-off mode with it’s wings slightly more stretched out while the old bird appeared to be flying straight ahead.

”Starting today you’ll begin to notice a simplified Twitter bird. From now on, this bird will be the universally recognizable symbol of Twitter… There’s no longer a need for text, bubbled typefaces, or a lowercase ‘t’ to represent Twitter’’, said Twitter.

This change is very serious for Twitter because they has released a set of rules about how the new logo can be used.
