View the World Virtually with Qwiki

With its $9 million funding spree, information experience startup Qwiki is finally launched its iPad app yesterday.  The app has a similar look and feel to the Qwiki website, but it offers its users a more interactive experience customized around touch capabalities and enhanced by location.

The app is ultimately meant to offer users a touch-enabled way to explore the world, or just simply what is near their surroundings, by rich media presentations. They can browse or search for these presentations like they would on the website, while nearby and popular Qwikis will be highlighted on the home screen. Those who select the explore button will get to experience a location-centric interface for discovering Qwikis. With their fingers they will be able to take a look at the world and watch Qwikis by locale.

iPhone, Android and internet TV versions of the app are in progress. Qwiki is also planning to add more content sources into its presentations in the near future.
