Zynga Will Acquire PopCap For $1 Billion+

PopCap, a company that makes great games such as Plants vs Zombies and Bejeweled, is going to be acquired for over $1 billion.

TechCrunch reported that the most possible buyer will be the popular social game developer Zynga, which has made many acquisitions over the last year. But there are sources telling that might not be the case as Zynga could not agree with the price PopCap was asking for.

Popcap was asking for a price of over $1 billion although its current revenue is only $100-$150 million.

Another candidate for the acquisition will be the pioneer in videogaming industry,  Electronic Arts(EA). EA’s largest acquisition was Playfish in 2009. Playfish was bought for over $400 million.

There is also possibility for it to be acquired by Asian companies such as DeNA and the Chinese company Tencent, which has a heavy market cap.

PopCap has a valuation of $222.5 million in IPO in October 2009 and it is said to be finding possible IPO again later this year.
